Witch Walk is a 90-minute guided walking tour through the historic streets of York, led by the mysterious and entertaining character Ragnell Hagathorn. Expect fearful folklore, horrible histories, occasional jump scares and theatrical storytelling!

Advance booking is recommended to guarantee your place, especially during busy periods. However, walk-up tickets may be available if the tour isn’t full.

The tour begins promptly at 7.30pm from St. Helen’s Square, York YO1 8QP. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in.

The experience lasts approximately 90 minutes and covers a gentle walking route through the city centre.

Witch Walk is recommended for mature audiences. Not for the nervous: includes jump scares. Children under 18 must be accompanied by adults.

Yes – the tour goes ahead rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. In the rare case of extreme conditions, we’ll contact you with rescheduling options.

But Witch Walk is more than a ghost walk, with themes covering the witchy women of York and its vicinity, fearful folklore, ghosts and monsters – all wrapped up in an immersive, character-led, theatrical storytelling experience! Witch Walk is atmospheric, occasionally scary, sometimes humourous, always quirky!

Yes, you’re welcome to take photos – especially of Ragnell! Just be mindful not to disturb the experience for others.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, though some sections of the tour may be busy or noisy.
